Last night, [livejournal.com profile] mjperson and I slogged to the CVS through the magical undersea world that seemed to be filling the streets, so he could pick up some ice melt for today. The ice melt featured this prominent claim:

"Each granule encapsulated with liquid magnesium!"

Upon much reflection, I think that this probably meant "Each granule coated with magnesium chloride - which dissolves in liquid, it's not like we have magnesium shavings in here, which wouldn't be helpful at all."

And there certainly weren't any liquid filled granules or the like.

Magnesium shavings might be helpful in melting snow if you were planning on lighting them on fire.

Since I have the time now and you never seem to be on AIM when I am, Algo, I'm going to tell you the story of your game day a few weeks ago.

That Saturday Jess and I had planned to have an anniversary date, which we didn't really get to have over New Year's, and we would spend the night in a TBA hotel in the city. However, after you sent out your invite I forwarded it to Jess to see if she wanted to play a few games before we went on our date--she said yes, then booked us a room at the Claremont (Inn?...something or other) in Berkeley, excited about eating at some funky vegetarian restaurant for dinner, etc.

But then my mother cancelled on babysitting due to illness and we ended up having the kids for the weekend and a prepaid hotel room in Berkeley. So we went, and ate dinner on University (well, just off it). I thought about coming to your place late night but was too tired. Then the next morning we had brunch at Fellini's.

So, a near miss...Are you coming to CT's for the SB?
