I'm getting close to done with everything in my "for real" knitting queue, including one Secret Project. Does anyone want anything? I make no claims on speed, I think it took me two years to get to doing the squid hat for [livejournal.com profile] kelkyag,, but if it's something for someone's kid, I will certainly attempt to make it sized for the kid at the time it's done rather than the time it's requested. :)

Susan loves getting things from people, and she wears them all the time. If you want to make her a hat or a 4T-sized sweater she will happily wear them this fall/winter.

At the moment purple is her favorite color.

We have a purple lover at our house too.

If you run across a toe-up sock pattern that would work well in cotton (or other non-stretchy yarn), please let me know.

I want a doily for my dresser, but none of the patterns I've seen are quite right. I may end up tatting one.

Hmm. Non-stretchy cotton for socks seems like it would be really prone to sagging. I can find some toe-up socks designed for Fixation, but that's certainly stretchy. Do you have a cotton sock yarn you like?

I always like things like this (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/frosted-ferns-7633) for doilies, but I'm not sure about the whole "nothing is right" part. :)

Oooh, the frosted ferns pattern is really pretty. I like the asymmetry in the leaf motifs -- I'll have to keep that in mind when pondering patterns. (The different blocking choices visible in the pictures are nifty, too.)

Perhaps what I want is a runner.

You have a lovely book with many runner patterns in it, but they are not the runners I want. I've looked at a lot of tatted runners and they weren't the ones I wanted either. Nor were any of the runners I saw in Google images...

Oh, right, and socks! My favorite pattern for cotton socks is the Sodera sock pattern. It has a lot of yarn overs and knit through back of loops which seem to make it work. I used "On Your Toes Bamboo" for those.

My leafy lacy socks use plain old Knit Picks cotton and seem to work fine. They're short, so they can't slide down very far.

I am always happy to absorb cool semi-impractical sock art, if you are looking for an excuse to make some. But that's not quite the thing you asked. :)

Someday I would love another Observatory Sweater, if you are up for a project of that magnitude. The one I've got is a great boon for working at home while keeping the thermostat fairly low, but it does get dirty now and then. :)

I do have a kit for this sock (http://www.tsocktsarina.com/sockkits/cleopatra.html) that I need an excuse to make, so that can definitely go on the queue.

Another observatory sweater would be fun, and will make [livejournal.com profile] mjperson glower at it, which is also amusing. Cables are traditional for Observatory Sweaters, but you aren't required to follow the convention if you don't want to. :)

Hee!

I find I don't have strong opinions about things like cables -- that is, textured patterns like that are cool and differentiate one sweater from another, but are not something I have much forward imagination about. (So, if there's a pattern it would amuse you to make, I'll probably like it.) I tend to focus more on color (mostly, my opinion there is: jewel tones!).

Thanks! :)

I feel guilty commenting since I knit too, but Duncan always wants more sweaters than I have time to knit him. He loves the jedi sweater you made him.

And sweaters for Duncan are way littler projects than sweaters for grownups, so it works out. :)

I don't know if it scales up well, but I would love a bigger version of the War Road sweater for Melinda! It was just the perfect weight and length/arm/width proportion for her!

From: [identity profile] firstfrost.livejournal.com
Hmm, the pattern doesn't come in larger sizes, but I should be able to scale it up if she's basically the same shape as she was when she was littler? (Ooh, if you tell me how much she weighs now compared to when she was born, I can assume a spherical baby! :) )
