So, [livejournal.com profile] mjperson has occasionally complained that while he does appreciate the sweaters I make him, he keeps putting them on backwards. I look at him askance for this, because you can generally tell which is the front and which is the back by looking at where the shoulder seam hits the collar, and which side the collar dips down on. But I will agree that this is a more complex observation than "where is the tag?"

However, they sell tags for handknit sweaters! All the examples say things like "Made with Love by Laura" or "Handknit for You" (or "Kid's Name"), but you can get them to say whatever you want. I got these. :)

I pop up to say "Ooh! This is a funny post" ... only to find that you have already been here. Sigh. I am too slow.

Did you find a tag type that is neither papery nor sticky?

I got these - http://www.etsy.com/transaction/128159845
It's cotton, and very soft and flexible; I'd say neither papery nor sticky. It's cut on the bias, so it's also a little stretchy along the length, which is very nice for knitting (though they are still not as stretchy as the knitting is).

Thanks for posting the source. It occurs to me that I should get some for my kid sweaters, especially before school starts. My kids are usually good at remembering their beloved sweaters, but better safe than sorry.

Well, I suppose I can add a tag, if it makes it a more amusing sweater. :)

Now you need ones that say "this is the inside" for shawls.

I am less confident of my ability to sew a tag to lace. (My levels in sewing are much fewer than my levels in knitting).
